Magic Circle

This technique is a great way to start a round and avoid any hole in the top of your project.

1. Hold end of yarn with thumb against middle finger and wrap yarn over the index finger and around both index and middle finger forming an “X”.

4. Yarn over and pull through loop on the hook.

7. Pull the tail of the yarn to close the circle till the centre cannot be seen.

2. While holding tension with the ring finger insert the hook below the first round of yarn and hook the second round.

5. Yarn over and pull through loop on the hook.

Note: If you struggle seeing the first sc place a stich marker (or paper clip) into the first sc before pulling the circle closed.

3. Drag second round of yarn under the first and twist the hook up.

6. Remove from fingers and ensure tail of yarn is not twisted in the loop.
