About Puaka:

Puaka the Short-tailed Bat is part of the New Zealand Wildlife Collection. Puaka is a slightly larger than life-sized Short -tailed Bat (Pekapeka) with a simplified body shape to capture the cute aspects of this wee bat. Puaka is a very small bat who, unlike other species, has adapted to hunt on the ground to find his food. Short-Tailed bats are very small, they weigh only around 12-15g but have characteristically large ears!  Short-tailed bats are classed as a threatened species due to loss in habitat and other pests. Although Puaka loves roosting in hollow trees he would love to make himself comfy in your home too!
